We are sad to report that last night (Tues 7th May 2019) we lost our OAP donkey Popcorn Moses.

He suffered from acute liver failure, a condition we have been monitoring and supporting him with over the last 6 months.

Popcorn has been at the Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctuary for many years and was well into his late thirties (or possibly beyond). He was originally a great friend of the miniature donkey Seamus, but in recent times became a happy resident in the OAP group (whilst Seamus went off to join the ladies in the miniature donkey herd).

Popcorn was a slightly nervous donkey, but he gradually became more confident with people as more and more visitors visit the site. He was renowned for having some of the poorest dentition of all the donkeys, but this never once put him off his soft feed – Popcorn used his tongue and the top of his mouth to mulch his food, much to his enjoyment.

Popcorn will go over the Rainbow Bridge to join his friends.

We have been re-arranging some of our groups in recent days. Sid, Dillon and Busby have joined the special diet group, whilst Bob and Sooty have moved into a reformulating OAP group. Both groups are enjoying their new surroundings, their special food and of course…undivided attention.
