Donkey Therapy

Our donkeys thoroughly enjoy visiting adults outside of the sanctuary and helping them with their daily lives.

Donkeys love going to residential homes, day centres or hospices where they mix with residents and patients, providing hours of enjoyment and happiness.

Donkeys are a great source of stimulation and provide comfort and calmness to people who take part in these therapy sessions.

In 2014 and 2015 our donkeys have worked with people who have been struck down with a variety of illnesses including strokes, Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease and dementia.

Companion donkeys have a positive influence on people and there is growing evidence that such animals have an impact on the way people feel.

Donkeys love the attention they get from these visits and this is very much a two-way therapy!!
